Is your pet missing? Here’s how you can find it

There was a lot of fireworks on NYE, and many pets went missing.

The noise caused by fireworks on New Year’s Eve resulted in many distressed pets losing their way. Some Krugersdorpers reported their lost pets on Facebook.

A dedicated group of people took it upon themselves to create a group on Facebook, specifically for all the posts about lost and found pets.

People who have lost their pets can also contact their nearest SPCA. Since the Krugersdorp SPCA closed down, the Roodepoort SPCA has taken over responsibility for the Krugersdorp area. If your pet has gone missing, kindly contact the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA on 011 672 0448 or visit their premises at 3 Nadine Street, Florida, Roodepoort.

Other SPCAs on the West Rand can also be contacted. Here’s a list of some of them:

• Randfontein SPCA

Corner Main Reef and Randfontein Roads, Wheatlands, Randfontein

Contact: 011 412 3114

• Westonaria SPCA

President Kruger Street, Westonaria

Contact: 011 753 1829

Krugersdorpers can also contact local vets as many of them take in lost and injured pets. They usually keep the animals for three days only before sending them to the SPCA.

Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora) have not taken in any strays during the festive period because they are filled to the brim with rescues that need homes.
