Eight suspects arrested for stealing groceries

They were armed with bolt cutters and hammers.

Kagiso Police arrested an alleged gang of business robbers after they ransacked a house and a spaza shop late last month.

A man claimed that eight intruders had entered his house at about 1am and forced him to switch on the lights. He watched as they stole his money and his takkies.

Then they went to a nearby spaza shop where they stole thousands of rands worth of groceries. Members of the community noticed the robbery and came to the victim’s rescue. The thugs fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported and no shots were fired during the robbery.

Kagiso Police launched an investigation and a manhunt for the suspects, said to be armed with hammers and bolt cutters. Police got a tip-off which led to the arrest of the suspects.

A case docket of business robbery was opened at the Kagiso Police Station. The suspects are expected to appear briefly in court soon.
