NetStar and police arrest hijacker

They told police the suspect had allegedly pointed his firearm at a victim during a hijacking incidence at Honeydew and left with the victim's car.

A 40-year-old suspect was arrested at Leratong Village last week after he was found in possession of a hijacked motor vehicle.

Police officers on duty were stopped by NetStar car-tracking staff who alleged the suspect had hijacked a vehicle and had made his way onto Albertina Sisulu Road heading from Roodepoort towards Leratong Hospital. One member of the staff showed police officers a white light delivery vehicle which he alleged had been hijacked a few minutes earlier.

The suspect, who is believed to be from Soweto, was standing next to the vehicle with his hands cuffed. They told police the suspect had allegedly pointed his firearm at a victim during a hijacking incident in Honeydew and left with the victim’s car. Police searched him and found a bunch of keys and a cellphone. He was arrested and detained at Kagiso Police Station, where a case docket of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle was opened, and the suspect formally charged. He appeared briefly in court the following day and was remanded in custody for further police investigation.
