Robbers take money and expensive whiskey
They tied the security officer up and then gained access to the liquor store through its roof.
Hekpoort Police are investigating a case of armed robbery after suspects broke into the bottle store at Hemco Garage’s at midnight on Monday, 26 February.
Constable Gloria Maswanganye, spokesperson for the Hekpoort Police, reported that a security officer on duty at the bottle store heard a sound coming from the roof of the building.
“When he went to investigate, he saw five males armed with firearms which they pointed at him. Two of them took him into the bush and tied his hands and feet with shoelaces,” said Gloria.
They broke through the roof and took an undisclosed amount of money and numerous expensive bottles of whiskey. They left the scene in a white Toyota Avanza and another unknown black car.

No shots were fired and none of the security officer’s possessions were taken. Police have launched a manhunt for the five male suspects, and are urging community members to please come forward with information that may assist in arresting them.
Police are also urging community members not to approach the suspects since they are deemed armed and dangerous.
