Police attacked with a golf club
Another suspect threw an empty bottle at the police vehicle, damaging its windscreen.
Kagiso Police arrested six suspects who allegedly attacked police who were attending to a complaint at Sector 3 in Tsakane.
Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police reported that in the early hours of Sunday, 4 March crime-prevention members received a complaint from a member of the community about gang-fighting and went to the scene of the alleged crime. They parked a few metres away and walked the rest of the way to the tavern.

“Police noticed a group of people gathered outside the tavern. They entered the yard to find that there was some confrontation between the two groups. When a police officer tried to intervene, one of the suspects attacked his colleague with his fists.

Another two police officers arrived to assist, but a group of unknown men also attempted to attack them. They swore at the police and one of them attacked the officer with a golf club. Police finally managed to arrest six of the attackers.
They were detained at Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of assault on a police officer and malicious injury to property was opened. The suspects will appear in court soon.
