This team is enthusiastically participating in ridding the West Rand Cluster of the criminal element.

The National Intervention Unit has once again secured a number of arrests. They have been deployed as an operational team to ensure stability in the West Rand Cluster, focusing mainly on the Krugersdorp and Kagiso policing precincts.

Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the West Rand Cluster, said the team responded to a suspicious vehicle in Krugersdorp and found a vehicle with a plasma TV in it.

“They approached the closest house and found that a window had been broken and three individuals were on the premises. They were arrested, the vehicle used in the crime was confiscated and the stolen property (TV) was recovered,” said Ernst.

In Kagiso, the members conducted searches and found dagga with a street value of approximately R8 800 in the possession of a man in Swanieville.

Operations will be conducted throughout to secure and stabilise the West Rand area. This unit, comprising proactive and reactive teams, K9s, forensics, detectives and intelligence members, has a multi-dimensional approach towards policing.
