A huge crowd gathered in the parking lot at President Square this afternoon as police tape flapped in the wind and rain.
The West Rand Cluster Police arrested at least five suspects after cordoning off a section of the parking lot, including two cars, at the far right entrance.
Five suspects were lying on the ground with their hands bound and the area was flooded with police officers. Although the police have not confirmed the reason for their arrest, they denied any allegations of a store and a bank inside the square being robbed.
There were also rumours of a hijacking taking place in the parking lot, but this was also denied by the police.
The News is awaiting a statement from the authorities to confirm the details surrounding the event.
