Help take firearms out of the wrong hands

The Kagiso Police are very concerned about the number of firearms that end up in the wrong hands.

The Kagiso Police are calling on all community members to help them make Kagiso a safer place.
Kagiso Police spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya, said there has been a significant increase in the number of crimes involving firearms.

“People are reporting cases of armed robbery in open spaces, on the streets, while delivering goods. Trucks delivering bread are the easiest targets, and as the Kagiso Police we are very concerned about the number of firearms that end up in the wrong hands,” he added.

“Week in and week out we register cases of firearms being pointed at people, and women being robbed of their handbags and cellphones as they come from work. Some people are even hijacked on main routes by people posing as law-enforcement officers,” explained Sibiya.

According to him they can fight this crime wave if all sectors of the community work together. He believes that the revival of community sector forums will make the desired difference.

Kagiso Police urge the public to come forward with any information about any crime or if they know of anyone with an unlicensed firearm.
