The Krugersdorp Police recently paid a visit to the residents of the Angels Home-based Care Centre in Lewisham to discuss the different types of abuse against the elderly, and what can be done about it.

Approximately 20 youth also participated in the event.

Captain Sebonyane said World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is observed on June 15 every year and that was the reason for their visit.

“We discussed harassment, financial abuse, emotional abuse, physically abuse and sexual abuse,” said Captain Sebonyane.
