#Mandeladay2022: Join CHOC and support children, teens with cancer
CHOC calls on you #SouthAfrica this #Mandeladay2022 to continue to help them feed patients who have been diagnosed with childhood cancer or a life-threatening blood disorder.
International Mandela Day – a day the United Nations chose to honour the late president on his birthday. Instead of celebrating his birthday to honour him, Madiba called on the people of the world to honour him by helping their communities.
Hedley Lewis, CEO of CHOC, calls on South Africans to celebrate their communities.
“For us every day is Mandela Day and hence we urge people supporting his vision to participate in sustainable interventions with lasting impact. With a national footprint, CHOC’s seven regional offices offer services and support. We remain committed to ensuring we reach every child, teenager and family battling cancer or a life-threatening blood disorder in South Africa.
“Children need complete balanced nutrition for adequate growth, neurodevelopment and a strong immune system. Nutrition is a key component during cancer treatment, as the child will need to cope with cancer treatment as well as the nutrition-related side effects to prevent malnutrition and infections.

“We call on you #SouthAfrica this #Mandeladay2022, to continue to help us feed patients who have been diagnosed with childhood cancer or a life-threatening blood disorder as well as their families today, tomorrow, the entire month. Join hands with our regions to tick off the food items on their wish list this Mandela Day. Click here [https://choc.org.za/food-for-thought/] to view each of the regional wish lists. I would like to thank everyone who has given their time or who has pledged to CHOC; we appreciate the support and we cannot do the uplifting work that we do without you!”
