Power outage in CBD due to blown up high voltage switch

Councillor says power has been restored in Langeberg Street, Noordheuwel, however, a part of the CBD is affected after a high voltage switch at a mini substation blew up.

A part of the Krugersdorp CBD will be without electricity for a period of time after a high-voltage switch at a mini substation blew up.

According to councillor Mark Trump, this is a result of a high-voltage cable fault in the area.

“A mini substation high voltage switch blew up in Market Street near Adolf Schneider Avenue. Spares are available, however, they will take several days to repair. Surrounding areas will be without electricity for several days. The municipality is currently awaiting feedback from the service provider,” said Trump.

Power has, however since been restored in Langeberg Street, Noordheuwel, and its surrounds after a mini substation transformer blew up.
