Parts of Mogale’s water supply affected

Mogale City Local Municipality has apologised on behalf of Rand Water due to the water shortage mostly affecting Kagiso and Chamdor.

Some parts of Mogale City have been experiencing severe water shortages since last week.

According to Mogale City Local Municipality’s communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu, this shortage of water supply has also affected municipal reservoir levels, which are currently sitting below the minimal critical levels causing a challenge to pump water to the Kagiso tower, which supplies water to the high lying areas such as Hills View in Kagiso and surrounding areas.

“Based on information received from Rand Water, water still cannot be supplied at the required supply volumes. With Rand Water reservoir levels slowly filling up, supplying water at full capacity also remains a challenge, however, we remain hopeful that by Monday evening [May 27], water supply will be restored to the minimum required levels. Water tankers will be arranged in the affected areas until the water levels in the reservoirs have stabilised.”

Mahlangu added, “On behalf of Rand Water, the municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused.”
