Major progress at Luipaardsvlei Landfill site after fire

The municipality’s Waste Management Division wants to reassure residents residing near the Luipaardsvlei Landfill site that the team has fully extinguished the smouldering fire.

The focus now is thus to restore the site to normality.

Again, The team apologises to the affected residents, businesses, and other affected parties for the inconvenience caused by the protracted fire.

On May 27, the municipality informed residents that 75% of the smouldering was cleared and that the remaining flaming southern slope had been the issue. By the end of last week, the fire was at 99% smouldered.
