Facelift for three elderly Kagiso residents’ homes

Internet service provider gives Kagiso elderly some comfort.

New kid on the internet service provider (ISP) block, Net Nine Nine, jumped at the chance to show its worth this past Mandela Day by updating, re-installing and re-wiring the electricity infrastructure of three elderly Kagiso residents’ homes.

When Net Nine Nine heard about three elderly people in Kagiso who have been living in houses with poor, unsafe and uncertified electricity connections we decided to fix it and make a small difference in these old souls’ lives by giving them some comfort and peace of mind,” said Bradley Bekker, Net Nine Nine spokesperson.

A few weeks ago an elderly Kagiso resident died when old and outdated electricity connections and wiring caused a fire.

A local certified electrician was brought in to re-wire and install electricity cables, conduits and new breakers in the elderly people’s homes to ensure that the electricity infrastructure is done properly and up to date.

A team of Net Nine Nine employees also helped to paint and clean the houses on the inside and outside, as well as tended to the yards. On seeing the dire circumstances of these aged and forgotten residents and their lack of basic necessities, the company went and bought some groceries as an added extra, which the old people greatly appreciated.

Most of the fires that destroy houses in Kagiso are the result of poorly installed electrical cabling done by contractors who don’t really care about pensioners and just want to make a quick buck from mostly neglected aged people who are living alone.

Although helping the elderly people with their electricity woes was done in the spirit of commemorating the good Tata Madiba did for the country and in celebration of Mandela Day, Bekker said that was not a once-off for Net Nine Nine.

Helping communities and especially the aged is an ongoing focus of the company. They will always keep their eyes open and their ears to the ground to listen for calls for assistance and extend a helping hand whenever possible.

Net Nine Nine is a very community-orientated company, geared towards helping people in townships and smaller rural districts to have a better life.

“We’re a serious contender when it comes to our business of delivering the most reliable and coolest internet service across South Africa, but we are just as dedicated to assisting people in need,” he concluded.
