Cable theft leads to temporary closure of licensing department

Due to cable theft and backup generator problems, the Mogale City Licensing Department will be closed temporarily.

The Mogale City Licensing Department had to temporarily close its doors due to a power outage as a result of cable theft.

In a statement from the department’s acting manager, Dumisani Mdluli the power outage stemmed from cable theft at the centre on July 7.

“Since the theft, the centre has been operating with generated backup power, which has also since been interrupted due to a damaged generator.”

Technicians have been assigned by the municipality but until the problem is resolved, only those with confirmed practical driving licence bookings will be assisted.

“At this stage, it’s not possible to confirm the exact date of when normal operations will resume but members of the public will be informed via the municipality’s website and other platforms.”
