Residents at Krugersdorp Council Care For the Aged celebrate Mother’s Day

Mothers at Krugersdorp Council Care For the Aged received the love and care they deserved for Mother's Day recently.

The Krugersdorp Council Care For the Aged (KCCA) and private donors made sure to spoil the elderly in celebration of Mother’s Day recently.

The function saw over 160 elderly spoilt in celebration of the special day. The function also saw well-known actor David Rees as the guest speaker.

The function is just one of the many annual events held by the KCCA which puts the elderly as its top priority. The KCCA was established in 1968 by the late Robert Palk, a well-known businessman in Krugersdorp. Today, the council is a fully registered non-governmental organisation providing services to the elderly who live in the Krugersdorp area.

According to Kobus Garbers, manager of the KCCA on Burger Street in the CBD, the council serves as a light of hope and support. He added the organisation seeks to provide an environment in which the elderly may enjoy a social life outside of the confines of their retirement rooms and homes.

“It is an unfortunate fact that the aged are largely forgotten and sometimes neglected by society,” Kobus said.
