On the morning of 31 October 2020 between 6.45am and 7am I was walking down the hill on the Hekpoort road past the Sterkfontein Hospital. I was on the sidewalk walking my dogs. I had to cross the road to get to our property and that is always a risk because the bend obscures the oncoming traffic. So I did the look to the right and then to the left and we started crossing.
The next moment a taxi came round the bend and at the same instant a car came at a very high speed from the opposite direction. I really thought for a moment that that was it – the three dogs and I in the middle of the road. No going back or running forward. But the taxi driver slowed down, switched on the hazard lights and indicated to me to cross the road. Which we did safely.
“Sir, I am very grateful for what you did.“
I hope this gentleman will get the message via the News.
