Heartfelt thanks to KHS, GDE

If all schools can collaborate this way, the national pass rate will be tremendously improved, for sure!

• Tambi Chirima, Vine Christian School Principal:

It’s not always that people recognise that you have a need and decide to meet you at that point of need, but KHS (Krugersdorp High School) and the Gauteng West Department of Education did it for Vine Christian School.

For such acts of humanitarianism and philanthropy, words fail me as a principal. This is not the first time that the Circuit Manager, Nonhlanhla Ntshangase (who has a big heart for learners and would do anything for them to qualify for a Bachelors pass after matric) and her team of dedicated IDSOs (more especially Mr Ntutu Mathibe), have liaised with top-performing schools like Mandisa and Noordheuwel to boost our matric pass rate.

The strategy is to adopt our learners and prepare them for the final National Senior Certificate exam.

As a result, Vine Christian School has managed to produce excellent results over the years despite the fact that we are an independent school.

On 25 March 2021, KHS adopted our matric kids for free. Mr Ivan Bailey made sure that they get all the required uniforms and textbooks without paying a dime. The welcome was heavenly. I learnt a lot in the process as a principal – to do what I can with what I have.

Many thanks, colleagues. I have chosen this platform to publicly acknowledge all that the Gauteng West District Office and KHS have done for VCS. If all schools can collaborate this way, the national pass rate will be tremendously improved, for sure!
