Community rallies at school for autism golf day

The Krugersdorp community came together to swing for a cause – helping Curamus School for Autism raise vital funds.

The community came together at the Krugersdorp Golf Club to show their support for the Curamus School for Autism.

According to the school’s principal, Michelle van Zyl, around 80 golfers stepped on the tees on November 6 to raise funds for the school.

“The funds will be used for salaries for our extra staff. They are teachers and support staff who keep the children safe and prevent classes from becoming overcrowded,” said Michelle.

They host this fundraiser annually, and Michelle is excited for their 10th one next year.

Before a storm forced the players to take shelter, they had numerous challenges and events, including a putting competition, longest drive and a Putting Picasso.

“The Putting Picasso has players dip their balls in paint and putt it over a canvas. This canvas was later sold at our auction, which always draws attention,” she explained.

She concluded that all the players enjoyed the day and that they are thankful for all the support from the community and other schools.
