Boko Haram ‘killers’ out on bail
Ten men from Dan Village who were arrested late last year in connection with the killing of a 16-year old boy, Mikateko Mathye were granted R15 000 bail each at Ritavi Magistrate Court on Thursday.

The boy was said to be part of the gang known as the ‘Boko Haram’ that was terrorising Dan Village, Lusaka, Nkowankowa, Rhulani and other neighbouring villages.
Mikateko’s death comes after a group of community members (men) toook him to show them where other members reside.
When they got there one of the community members, Prince Nhlangwini was shot dead by an armed ‘Boko Haram’ gang member who then fled the scene. It is said the men started beating up Mikateko, held him under water at Ritavi River before hanging him on a tree behind Charles Mathonsi Secondary School in Dan. Mikateko’s wounded naked body was found the following morning by police.
The men, who are aged between 25-45 years were charged with murder, kidnapping, attempted murder, malicious damage to property and arson. Ritavi police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Seth Magadzi said the men will appear again in court on February 26. Magadzi said investigations are still underway.
Community members who have been following the case from day one said they were relived that the men were released because they did what the police were unable to do.
