Two die in shooting spree

Police in Ritavi have launched a manhunt for the suspect who shot dead a 63-year-old woman and seriously injured her daughter who later died in hospital on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the suspect stormed into the elderly woman, Mary Mangena’s home in Sasekani in Muhlaba Cross on Tuesday morning.

“Without saying anything, he started shooting, killing the elderly woman instantly and seriously injuring her daughter,Hermina Mangena,” said Ngoepe.

He said police found two women lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds.

The daughter was still alive and taken to hospital where she died on Wednesday morning.

Ngoepe said preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect was in love with the deceased elderly woman’s younger daughter and the two had a fight.

The younger daughter was not at home at the time of the shooting.

The suspect fled in a white Volkswagen Polo.
