Dangerous criminals arrested

Police in the province have arrested 31 dangerous criminals and confiscated illegal firearms, drugs, cellular phones and money during the "Clean up" operation last week.

The suspects aged between 23 and 48 years old were arrested for serious criminal activities such as armed robberies, house robberies, house breaking and theft, possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, possession and dealing in drugs and dagga in Letsitele, Hoedspruit, Thohoyandou, Groblesdaal, Burgersdorp, Bela Bela, Dennilton and Seshego areas of the province.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said during the crime intelligence unit led operation which ended on Saturday they confiscated three unlicensed firearms and 130 rounds ammunition, 208 packets of drugs, 332 small packages dagga, 11 cellular phones, money and uprooted and confiscated 35 dagga trees.

Ngoepe warned the would be criminals that police operations will continue until crime perpetrators are behind bars.

He appealed to the community to provide police with information about criminal activities in their areas.

The arrested suspects were due to appear at various magistrate’s courts at the time of going to press.
