Larries shine at annual Makhulu 5

The annual Makhulu 5 Mountain Bike Challenge took place in Polokwane on Saturday, February 18. Nine Larrie cyclists took part and started the season off with a bang.

The annual Makhulu 5 Mountain Bike Challenge took place in Polokwane on Saturday, February 18.

Nine Larrie cyclists took part and started the season off with a bang.

In the Nippers Category (boys 10 and under) HJ van Wyk achieved an overall 4th place with a time of 51:18:20 over the 15 kilometres.

Joszua Joubert, who took part in the Sprogs Category (boys 11-12 years) covered the distance in a time of 1:08:30.

In the girls Nipper Category, Sharice Smith finished with a time of 1:31:31 while Shané van den Heever took part in the Sprogs category and finished in a time of 59:29:70.

The Sub-Junior boys and girls really got the wheels turning and performed exceptionally well.

Johan van den Heever finished the 15km track in 43:03:50, achieving an overall sixth place.

In the girls race, the Larries took home the two top podium positions.

Janke Joubert finished first with a time of 47:37:20 and in a close second place was Mikyla Coetzer with a time of 47:37:40.

Anisa Verster claimed fourth place with a time of 52:07:50 while Chanté Smith finished the race with a time of 1:25:44.
