TZANEEN: Local schools battle it out in a debate competition

Nine schools from the Thabina and Shiluvana Circuit recently participated in a debate competition at Napscom Secondary School

The topic of the debate was”My future cheque: Entrepreneurship versus Formal employment”.

It was in two parts which involved the oral and written competition.

The nine schools which participated in the competition were; Mabushe High School, Pherehla High School, Molabosane High School, Bessie Maake High School, Napscom Secondary School, Seboye Secondary School, Phusela Secondary School, Khataza High School and Nelson Ramodike Secondary School.

DEBATE: One of the learners who participated in the debate competition which was recently held at Napscom Secondary School in Maake.

The competition was organised by CommuneP, which is a Non-profit entity formed by the professionals and business people that hail mostly from Tickeyline village and the surrounding areas.

Advocate Michael Ramoshaba, was the debate project leader and he is also from the Maake area.

The Greater Tzaneen municipality’s Mayor, Maripe Mangena also graced the event with his presence and with some local councilors.

The occasion was also supported by Thabiso Mamabolo who is acting as Thabo Maputla on SABC1 Skeem saam, former teachers and principals of the schools in participation, the Department of Education, SADTU, GTEDA, NYDA, GFTM, Molapo Industries and some local business people.

Linda Malekola from Mabushe High School won the essay competition and Mmoni Sekhwela from Pherehla High School won the oral competition.

“I’m pleased with how the event turned out and would like to thank everyone who participated in the success of the event.

Jack Lebea (SAPS officer) was responsible for the event’s security.

All the other participants including caterers, Cameramen, DJs, sponsors, artists and invited guests including the retired teachers and principals.

And we are looking forward to a much improved event and support in 2018,” said Tim Motlousti, CommuneP Chairperson.
