Girl (14) denied bail for throwing baby into a pit toilet
A 14 year old girl who threw her baby into a pit toilet was denied bail at the Bolobedu Magistrate Court on Monday
The girl who cannot be named as she is a minor was charged with a case of attempted murder for throwing her six month old son into the toilet.
She was taken to Bosasa Child and Youth Care Centre in Polokwane and will appear in court again on July 6 for further police investigations.
“It is alleged that a passerby noticed the activity and called the police.
The police responded swiftly and the baby was taken to hospital for medical treatment immediately,” said Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.
Ngoepe added that the police strongly condemn the involvement of minors in criminal activities in the Limpopo Province and also urged parents to supervise their children and find ways to prevent them from being involved in sexual relationships to prevent teenage pregnancies.
