Phala Rotary keeping families healthy

Phalaborwa Rotary Club held one of its most successful Family Health Days events this year.

Phalaborwa Rotary managed to help close to 300 people at this year’s event at the Makhushane Tribal Offices in Namakgale.

Optometrist Conspire Mabasa, managed to attend to over 100 patients and also handed out over 70 reading spectacles.

Some of the services that these people were able to receive included; HIV counselling and testing, screening for TB, diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, as well as Vitamin A supplementation.

Patients had, among other things, the opportunity to get their blood pressure checked.

A focal point by the National Department of Health this year was the “She Conquers Campaign”.The Rotary Family Health Days is a public private partnership promoting health lifestyles between Rotarians for Family Health and Aids Prevention (RFHA), in partnership with the National Department of Health and Rotary clubs in South Africa.
