MAAKE: Police crack down on illegal mining

An operation comprising of, but not limited to, the Department of Mineral Resources, Limpopo Hawks, and the Air Wing cracked down on an illegal mining operation last week Thursday, November 16.

Under the command of Tzaneen Cluster Commander, Major General Maggy Mathebula, Tzaneen cluster led an operation that found out an illegal mining operation Tlhabine mountains near Ramodike dam, in the Maake policing area.

The operation saw the confiscation of various items used to carry out the mining along with rocks that had been mined by the people who conducted the illegal mining operation.

The operation comprised of representatives from the Department of Mineral Resources, Limpopo Hawks, SAPS Air Wing, POPS, CIG, and SAPS crime prevention.
