TZANEEN: Six feared Listeriosis cases ‘confirmed’

Six cases of Listeriosis have been allegedly reported in Tzaneen.

This according to a reliable source.

The Limpopo Department of Health and a hospital in town deny the allegations.

It is believed that the bacterium originated from Gauteng.

As of January 16, a total of 764 Listeriosis cases have been reported across the country.

Environmental health practitioners in Johannesburg are hard at work following the discovery of strains of Listeria at a food outlet on Friday.

Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for health and social development in the City, Dr Mpho Phalatse, said that samples had been taken to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases for confirmatory testing.
