An Information Communication Technology (ICT) Multimedia Centre was officially handed over to the school as part of the day’s activities.

The more than R200 000 worth of computer training facilitated by Evolution Training and Development in partnership with Krystal and Symbal Computers was an initiative of the Ward Councillor, Lettie Hlangwana.

Learners from grade 10 to grade 12 received training in; Introduction to computing, Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and Emailing. Speaking during the certificate awarding ceremony, Councillor Lettie Hlangwane said she approached the computer training company, Evolution, while they were training learners at Edward Homu High School in Giyani.

She said with donations from business people she was able to acquire 30 computers and bring the facilitators to the school to train learners and educators during the weekend for three months. Hlangwana said the purpose of the training was to equip the learners with computer skills while they are still in high school so that they find it easy at tertiary.

The computers used were donated to the school to help learners, teachers and members of the community with information and communication the gap between rural and urban areas,” he said.

The chairperson of Evolution Training and Development, Simon Matlebane, appealed to community leaders, particularly those in rural areas, to follow Councillor Hlangwana’s example.
