Update: Teacher arrested for ‘raping’ girl (17) outside Tzaneen denied bail

The suspect was denied bail in court today.

The suspect (33) who is an educator at a High School in Belview village has appeared before the Bolobedu Magistrate Court today, September 11 on a charge of rape.

“Bail was denied and his case was postponed to September 13 for further bail application and for further police investigations,” Colonel Moatshe Ngeope said.

The incident occurred at a village in the Mokwakwaila policing precinct outside Tzaneen on September 2.

‘The 17-year-old girl was raped by the 33-year-old educator,’ Colonel Moasthe Ngeope said.

“The girl met the suspect who is an educator at one of the High Schools and he offered her a lift home,” according to Ngeope.

The suspect continued driving, passing the victim’s house and proceeded to a local sports ground. The suspect started assaulting the victim and raped her. The matter was reported to the police who immediately started with investigations until the suspect was apprehended,’ said Ngeope.
