TZANEEN: Suspects nabbed for being in possession of Pangolin

During the arrest, one live pangolin was recovered wrapped with a cloth.

Four suspects aged between 24 and 30, were arrested in Giyani this week during a sting intelligent driven joint operation alongside the Ngove road outside Giyani.

“During the arrest, one live pangolin was recovered wrapped with a cloth and it was immediately handed over to wild life conservationists for safety,” Col Moatshe Ngeope said.

The suspects will appear before the Giyani Magistrate Court on a charge of possession of protected species.

Meanwhile, in the Tzaneen Policing area, three suspects aged between 25 and 35 were arrested in possession of an pangolin which was also handed over to conservationists for safety.

The suspects will also appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate Court soon.

Police investigations are ongoing.
