TZANEEN: Tree falls on car in Windsor Street
WATCH: "It was like the tree fell in slow-mo and we could do nothing about it," an eye-witness explained.
A tree fell onto a parking area in front of Past2Present, in Windsor Street, and is blocking the road.
The tree fell onto a Grey Mitsubishi Pajero and caved in the backside of the car.
The cause of the tree falling is still unknown although some of the onlookers have mentioned the phrase “an act of God.”
The road is currently being closed-off due to the magnitude of the damage caused by the way the tree has fallen.
In its descent, the tree took down one of the light poles.![]()

Adele Wujma, a customer at Past2Present, gave an eye-witness account.
She said they were busy enjoying their lunch when she heard a grumbling crack coming from the parking area.

“It was like the tree fell in slow-mo and we could do nothing about it,” she explained.
She told the LETABA HERALD that there had been a motorcycle next to the crushed car but that the owner drove off with it soon after the tree fell.
“There was a man in his car on the other side of the tree. Luckily the tree fell the other way. Someone could have been seriously injured,” Wujma told the HERALD.

The owner of the car, Wilna Booysen, has told the HERALD that she thinks the car is completely written off because the frame of the car has been crushed.
“I’ve never had an accident with it, it’s been to Mozambique, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, it’s driven through all those mountains – I was planning to take another trip with it – and now it’s gone,” she told the HERALD in dismay.
“I think the tree is just rotten and with all the rain it just decided to give in,” said Booysen.
The Fire and Rescue workers refused to comment on the incident.
More information will follow as it becomes known.
