Two people drowned in two separate incidents in the Mopani area over the past week.

In Letsitele, Lucky Mathebula (38) drowned while fishing with his friend on the Constantia farm last Wednesday,” Col Moatshe Ngoepe said in a statement.

Ngoepe said police were informed about the incident and responded swiftly.

“Members of the police Search and Rescue Team worked tirelessly until the body was retrieved.”

Meanwhile, in the Mokwakwaila Policing area outside Tzaneen, the body of Billy Masale Ramokgopa (24) was retrieved from the river after he allegedly slipped into Molototsi river on Saturday around 23:00.

“He was on his way  home with a friend from a liquor outlet,” said Ngoepe.
