24 people killed in local horror crash

24 passengers in the Quantum died on the scene last night.

The Police in Modjadjiskloof are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a horrific accident which occurred last night, Sunday 16 June around  22:00 along the R81 road between Mooketsi and Giyani.

“It is alleged that a bus and a Quantum taxi collided head-on,” Col Moatshe Ngoepe said.

24 passengers in the Quantum died on the scene. One sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment, according to Ngoepe.

The bus driver and two passengers sustained serious injuries and they were also transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

“The process of identifying the deceased is still unfolding,” Ngoepe said.

Police investigations are underway.
