Mopani women’s league marches against abuse

The ANC Women's League in the Mopani region held a march against women and child abuse on Monday.

They marched from the Tzaneen Taxi Rank to the Tzaneen Magistrate Court where they handed over their memorandum to Hasani Mutarini, Tzaneen Court Manager.

The march was a result of the recent killings and rapes of women and children all over the country.

Some of their demands include the reinstatement of death penalty for rapists and murders and harsher sentences for perpetrators among others.

Mutarini promised the infuriated females that his department will attend to their cries and the ones that are out of his department’s jurisdiction he will forward to the relevant people.

He also assured them that the department of justice believes in the rights for women and all people.

During the march they were singing songs such ‘Senzeni na? translating to what have we done?

Taking the song further asking what have they done to get raped and killed.

The women were led by Chairperson of the organisation in the region, Dikeledi Mmetle and were all dressed in all black attire with a head wrap.

Greater Tzaneen Mayor, Maripe Mangena also joined in on the march to show support for the women.

After handing over the memorandum they walked around the CBD spreading the message of peace.
