Police recover stolen firearms on plot outside Tzaneen

Tenants of a plot on the outskirts of Tzaneen assisted the police in recovering stolen rifles and safes.

The owner of the plot was alerted by his tenants that one of the houses on his plot was broken into yesterday, Tuesday 24 September.

“He went to inspect and discovered that the house was broken into and that the safes that were allegedly mounted in it have been removed. The tenant was away for the weekend,”  Constable Maphure Manamela said.

A case of burglary was opened by the owner for investigation.

The Police commenced with a manhunt for the suspects and the tracing of the safes.

“Community members residing on the plot also joined in the search,” said Manamela.

According to Manamela it became apparent that the suspects might have abandoned them in the vicinity due to their weight.

The three safes were  found abandoned in nearby bushes.
