Shop robbed during broad daylight

An armed robbery took place recently at around 12:15 at Total Sport, Tzaneen Crossing Mall. 

According to Sergeant Maurice Nkhwashu of the Tzaneen SAPS, a store attendant was helping a customer who had requested to purchase a phone.

“The store attendant left the customer at the till desk and went to the storeroom where phones are kept.

While in there, two African male suspects walked into the storeroom with guns,” Sergeant Nkhwashu stated.

The suspects are said to have taken all the phones that were kept in the storeroom, along with some clothes in the store.

At the time of the incident, four employees were reported to be on duty whereby two were in a separate storeroom while one was working on the floor.

The armed robbers are suspected to have been with three other men who stood watch at the door.

“Once they were done robbing the store, they walked out and were met by three other men at the door.

They disappeared into the busy crowd on that day,” Nkhwashu exclaimed.

Police investigation is still underway and they are appealing to the community at large to help them find the suspects.

Suspects are said to have been speaking isiZulu when they were demanding for all the cellphones.

Anyone with iformation that may help the police is urged to visit their nearest police station or to go to the Tzaneen police station or alternatively call Sergeant Nkhwashu on 082-729-1058.
