Tzaneen: Drug lab worth millions seized, man (57) arrested

"Three suspects were arrested and drugs with the estimated street value of R5 million were seized."

Members of the Provincial Organized Crime Unit and the Provincial Drug Team in Limpopo conducted an operation that led to discovery of a drug lab at Plot No 74 Maroela, Kameeldrift in Pretoria on Friday 13 December.

“Three suspects were arrested and drugs with the estimated street value of R5 million were seized,” Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said.

According to Mojapelo, the police followed up on information that led them to an address in Tzaneen.

“On arrival, they arrested one suspect aged 57 and seized the following drugs and a motor vehicle: Magic mushrooms, hydroponic dagga, lolly pops and a Ford Fiesta,” said Mojapelo.

During the subsequent investigations that were conducted at the said premises in Tzaneen, the police operationalised information that led them to Kameeldrift in Pretoria where the drug lab was discovered.

Two suspects aged 23 and 35 were arrested and the following were seized: mushrooms, dry bottles of hydrophobic dagga, 60 indoor dagga plants and equipment for the manufacturing and packaging indoor dagga were seized.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has hailed all members of the SAPS who were involved in this operation and also thanked community members for continuously providing valuable inform to the police.
