Gallery: Road accident leaves two seriously injured

The accident saw four people sustaining injuries. However, from the four only two suffered serious injuries.

A road accident involving a Canine Security company car and a Nissan left two people seriously injured.

The accident occurred on Saturday along the R71 to Phalaborwa. Two people incurred minor injuries while two other occupants, one from the Nissan and a guard from the Canine Security vehicle, were seriously injured.

According to eyewitnesses that spoke to Canine Security’s Marius Jacobs, their bakkie hit the Nissan which failed to stop. The bakkie rolled onto a Mercedes and another bakkie. None of the occupants from these cars were injured, stated Jacobs.

The bakkie had three occupants, two of which are Jacobs’ supervisors and a guard that works for Canine Security.

“My supervisors were checked for injuries, but our guard was injured and is still in hospital. He had surgery on his right arm on Saturday night. He hit his head and as a result, he cannot remember the accident. We are waiting on him to regain his memory,” Jacobs explained.

He further told Herlad that the company vehicle has since been written off.

Tzaneen SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Maurice Nkhwashu, told Herald that they are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving.

An update will be given in the next edition of Letaba Herald regarding the condition of the guard that sustained serious injuries.
