Bus accident at Sekgopo
Six people on their way to the ANC 108th anniversary celebration died in a bus accident in Sekgopo.

A culpable homicide case is being investigated following the death of six people in a bus accident along the R81 road near Sekgopo village on Sunday morning.
According to the police report, the driver of the bus and five passengers were declared dead on the scene by the medical emergency services personnel.
29 people were transported to the local hospital and have been treated for serious injuries.

The 35 passengers were travelling in a Greater North bus from the Waterberg region to attend the ANC 108th anniversary provincial celebration at Lebaka Stadium in Mohlabaneng village when the driver lost control and overturned on the roadside.

ANC Mopani Regional chairperson, Pule Shayi, who is also the Executive Mayor of Mopani District Municipality, sent his condolences to the bereaved families.
“As leadership of Mopani, we are saddened to hear of this tragic event.

We send our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, while we also wish for a speedy recovery to the injured.
We mourn with the Waterberg district and the entire population of Limpopo on this loss,” said Shayi.

He said they are worried about the number of lives lost on the district’s roads, particularly on the R81. “Let us continue to pray for safety on our roads,” added Shayi.
MEC for Social Development, Nkakareng Rakgoale, said that social workers have been dispatched to the survivors, bereaved families and other affected parties, to provide psychological support.
