Breaking news: Tzaneen liquor store owner in trouble

Police have clamped down on a bottle store owner who allegedly transported liquor.

A 54-year-old owner of a liquor store in Tzaneen was arrested for contravening regulations under the disaster management act.

According to a police statement, the owner and  a 44-year-old accomplice were allegedly found transporting liquor to the value of R8000 on Thursday 14 May.

Police say they confiscated a total number of 88 cases of a variety of liquor as well as two Toyota Hilux bakkies used to transport the liquor.

One of the suspects was released on R1000 bail and is expected to appear before Tzaneen magistrate’s court on 27 May. The other suspect paid a R3000 admission of guilt fine.

The arrest came after an intelligence driven operation conducted by Tzaneen crime intelligence unit, Vispol and members of the SANDF
