Mopani hosts IDP forum meeting

Mopani District Municipality (MDM) hosted the Integrated Development Planning (IDP) representative forum meeting in Nkowankowa last week.

The meeting, attended by representatives of the five local municipalities in the district, discussed the analysis phase of the IDP.

In his address, the executive mayor of MDM, Pule Shayi said the analysis phase of IDP is very important in laying out the environment and challenges faced by communities in the district.

“At this level, collectively we should be able to appreciate what is happening in our district in terms of service delivery, and issues of the economy. So, that when we go to the strategies phase, we are able to define the interventions that we need to bring in.”

He referred to the fact that King Moshoeshoe of Basotho and King Ramabulana of VhaVenda people were able to defeat their enemies during the wars of resistance on the strength of knowing their terrains.

He said the municipality will proceed with preparations towards the launch of the new district development model.

Shayi also used the opportunity to urge stakeholders to continue observing health protocols on Covid-19, expressing his concern on the rising number of cases in the Ba-Phalaborwa municipal area.
