Progress is made with potholes

As promised the Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) is forging ahead with its planned potholes repair schedule.

Although there was some delay at the start of the project, there has been a noticeable progress in some internal streets in Nkowankowa and in Tzaneen.

However, there is still a huge amount of work that needs to be done.

“We are making progress on a daily basis, even though we have limited resources in both manpower and funding.

“Our jurisdiction is mostly internal streets, repairing and graveling of the streets.

“We have now also started focussing on critical roads in the townships and villages,” GTM spokesman, Neville Ndlala, explained.

Ndlala also acknowledged that there are some streets and roads that are beyond their life span of 25 years.

He told the Herald that these roads are in need of urgent rehabilitation, hence the the tender that was issued last week to repair Boundary Street bordering Arbor Park and Premier Park and Maritz Street in Aqua Park.

According to the four week repair schedule, the municipality was supposed to have completed the repair of streets on the last week of April.
