The three-day journey began on Friday, 23 April and ended on Sunday, 25 April at the Mavabaza Primary School in Joppie.

The team comprised of people from Gauteng and Limpopo.

They donated twenty wheelchairs, ten walking sticks and eight walking frames to the Joppie Disability Centre and also groceries to community members.

Ngobeni forwarded words of gratitude to the cyclists, sponsors and everyone who contributed towards the success of the project.

The initiative started a few years ago to assist the needy in his village, with groceries.

This year he decided to assist people living with disabilities because they are usually overlooked in the community.

“After learning about the challenges that people living with disabilities face, I felt the need to do something about it.

“Some of these people are stuck in their houses because of the lack of wheelchairs.

“They are also unable to visit the local disability centres, because of their immobility.

“We are hoping that the donations will make their lives easier,” he told the Herald.

Ngobeni and the team were received with ululations and gratitude by residents on arrival in the village.
