GTM appoints acting municipal manager

The Greater Tzaneen Municipality has appointed an acting municipal manager following the immediate resignation of Thapelo Matlala this week. 

The acting municipal manager Aleck Nkuna was appointed with immediate effect for a period not exceeding three months. 

Nkuna is the current Director of Community Services in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality.

Nkuna boasts several tertiary qualifications which include an Honours Degree in Public Management, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Limpopo. 

He is now finalizing his Masters’s Degree in Public Management.

He has acquired numerous certificates in Public Management, Certificate Programme in Management Development for Municipal Finance Additional, and Project Management and Executive Management Programme from 2006 to 2015.

Nkuna previously served as the Director for Community Services in the Greater Letaba Municipality and as a Project Manager for Back to Basics at the Municipal Infrastructure Support Agency.

Nkuna also worked in National Intelligence Agency as an Information Editor, Agent Handler, and Unit Manager before joining the Greater Tzaneen Municipality in April 2018.

At the end of the three months acting period, Council will then determine the way forward.
