Hoedies enjoy ‘spooktacular’ Halloween at reptile centre
Spooky enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies had the time of their lives on Saturday, October 30 at the Hoedspruit Reptile Centre (HRC).

This as the second annual “Snake Park in the Dark, Halloween Spooktakular” event was held. According to organiser Chris Cooke, the special event was well attended by zombies, aliens, vampires and monsters of all kinds.
He said attendees were tricked and treated to a fun-filled evening of games, candy and of course reptile education.

“The Hoedspruit Reptile Centre team put in enormous effort, time and energy in decorating the grounds with creepy Halloween paraphernalia to create the perfect spooktacular atmosphere. After having their fill of the evening’s various games and activities, guests enjoyed delicious ‘brains burgers’ for dinner, included in the event fee,” he said.
Cooke told the Herald that when asked, participants were unanimous in saying that the event should be held every year. “It’s clear that the ‘spooktacular’ will become Hoedspruit’s premiere family Halloween event,” he said.

He said due to Hoedspruit Reptile Centre relying on its own funds, for all its conservation initiatives special events like this are critical in generating the much-needed funds for the centre, especially during the recent economic slump.
“You can help support the good conservation work that HRC does by visiting the centre or enrolling in one of our many educational tours and training courses on offer,” he said.
