Christmas and New year babies welcomed

The Department of Health in Mopani welcomed a total of 113 babies on Christmas and New Year's Day combined.

Nkhensani Hospital delivered the most Christmas babies, welcoming 16 infants, 10 boys and 6 girls on the day.
Letaba Hospital had six boys and four girls, Kgapane received two boys and nine girls and at Van Velden Hospital in Tzaneen three girls and one boy were born.
Meanwhile in Sekororo, two boys and four girls were welcomed, at Dr C.N Phatudi, two girls and five boys were welcomed and at Maphuta Malatji, two boys and one girl were born.

Five of the mothers who gave birth on Christmas Day were teenagers.
On New Year’s Day another five teen mothers also welcomed their bundles of joy at different health facilities in the district.
A total of 56 babies (29 boys and 27 girls) were born on the first day of 2022.
The first delivery was recorded at 00:27, weighing 2664g from Nkhensani Hospital.

The mayor of Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality, Merriam Malatji, was one of the mayors who showered the newborns with gifts on these special days. She visited Maphuta Maltji in Namakgale with her entourage.
Newly elected Mayor of Giyani Municipality, Thandi Zitha,  visited Nkhensani Hospital and the first daughters of Greater Tzaneen municipality, Vivian Mei and Matokane Molapisane, were at Dr C.N Phatudi. and Van Velden Hospital.
