New small claims court commissioners

Yasmeen Ebrahim Bhamjee and Mixo Ronald Nyakane were sworn in and duly appointed as commissioners of the Small Claims Court in Tzaneen on Thursday last week.

Chief Magistrate, James Norval, administered the oath and congratulated each of the new commissioners saying that they had to comply with strict selection criteria to qualify for these important roles.

Stephan van Rensburg, chair of the sub-district of Tzaneen’s advisory board of the small claims court thanked Bhamjee and Nyakane for making themselves available.

“Last year more than 100 cases were completed and this is important work since it lightens the load on the civil roll,” said Van Rensburg.
