Mo kicks off his Mr South Africa journey in style
A 30-year-old man from GaSekororo believes he has what it takes to become the next Mr South Africa.

Moclaren Mothethi Morema, also known as “Mo” from Lorraine, says he entered the competition on the advice of his sister-in-law who believes he has the potential to become Mr SA. “Mr SA is a real-life everyday hero, an ambassador for our country, and someone to look up to; someone that will inspire young people.” He says he has the support of the community, family, friends, and the Mr SA platform. “I have learned that doing good to others plays an important role in improving your well-being.”
He says he needs to work on his brand. “My brand is yet to rise, I view it as a learning curve for greater heights.” Mo lives according to the motto, “Today’s pain is tomorrow’s power”. He hails from the dusty streets of Lorraine village, GaSekororo outside Tzaneen. “It is all new to me, I feel like a shooting star, all thanks to God almighty,” he added. Mo is currently based in Johannesburg. He completed matric at Khudu Senior Secondary School. “I then left to study for my diploma in financial management at Central Johannesburg College.”

He furthered his studies in business management with Regenesys Business School. He then did a bachelor’s degree in financial management at Mancosa and is currently studying towards an honours degree in business administration. “I am ambitious and self-motivated with more than eight years of experience in banking, excellent knowledge of financial modelling and reporting, and working knowledge in finance.” He is also an entrepreneur, poet, motivational speaker, and commercial model.
He says as a young boy he did not have an interest in pageants, but it is something he became aware of as a teenager. “In Grade 12 I did not attend the matric dance because I was dedicated to getting good grades, and I was a bit shy and had a low self-esteem,” he said.
