Giyani municipality’s new manager brings hope

Vusi Duncan Khoza's appointment has given hope to the people of Giyani, as he is from the area, they believe he will advance their interests.

Khosa’s appointment comes nine months after the former manager was suspended last year. Maxwell Chauke was suspended on September 5, four months before his contract was supposed to end on the December 31 for reasons still unknown despite opposition parties wanting to know why he was suspended. The new manager, Vusi Duncan Khoza assumed his post last week on Thursday, June 1.
He is the first municipal manager hired who grew up in Giyani.

His appointment however did not come easy. According to a source, “there was opposition from some comrades” who wanted another person instead of him. A smear campaign on social media discredited him as underqualified even before he started in his new position. Khoza is however no stranger to the public service and has served in various capacities at municipalities in the country. In his last appointment, Khoza was a director of IT systems development and technical support in the Gauteng Department of Education, a job he held from 2010.
